Wednesday, October 2, 2013
More than 350 senior HR managers and executives met for a one day conference organized by the Foundation for Human Resource Development (FHRD) at MCC in Valletta. The title of this year’s conference was ‘Maintaining Sustainable Results’ which perfectly fits in the challenging times companies today face.
The conference’s key note speaker was South African national Shirley Zinn who elaborated on the nine habits of a HR Professional and how these are indispensable for business success. Nine workshops followed which dealt with talent management, project management, managing performance, social media within the HR field, implementing sustainable reward systems, amongst others. The afternoon panel discussion, moderated by HR consultant and lecturer Vince Cassar, involved a number of cross sectorial HR Professionals discussing on how one can link HR strategy to workforce management in order to bridge the required necessary skills.
The 2nd key note speaker of the conference involved local Maltese entrepreneur Rachel Vella. Rachael gave an overview on her career and ventures and focused her talk around the theme ‘You can only create that which you can imagine - Imagine Success and Breed Success’. At the end of the conference FHRD introduced their new Director General Marvin Cuschieri who will replace Joe Gerada.
The conference which is an annual event in the calendar of FHRD has become a networking hub for managers and executives working in the HR field and related sectors. This year’s event also included a speakers piazza hosted by Smart City Malta, a number of sponsors and the HR & Training fair where 20 exhibitors mainly from the IT, recruitment, training, and insurance sectors had a stand.
