Profile of the Trainer:
|
Mrs Jeannine J. Cassar read Occupational Health Safety & Environment at the University of Malta where she obtained a Diploma in Social Studies in OHS in 2004 and her Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety Health & Environment at the University of Greenwich UK, graduating with first class honours in 2008.
Jeannine has been actively involved in EHS since 2002 and is a graduate member with the Institute of Occupational Health & Safety UK. Her 13 years of employment have provided her with various exposures to different workplace environments, including food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries, ranging from administrative work to manufacturing, packaging, warehousing, engineering and other ancillary services. She has been appointed the EHS Officer of Actavis Ltd. for the past 3 years where she is responsible of implementing & ensuring that EHS management systems are in line with corporate requirements, OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001. She was also awarded the Hays Construction & Property Prize for the best dissertation & final year work by the University of Greenwich, UK in 2008 and assisted her company to achieve the 2008 National Occupational Health & Safety Good Practice Awards for Risk Assessments & ISO 14001 Certification.

Rationale of the Course
|
The Worker’s EHS Certificate has been developed with the employee in mind. This course is structured on 4 modules:
o Module 1: Introduction to EHS
o Module 2: Preventing Accidents
o Module 3: Working Safely
o Module 4: Manual Handling
These 4 modules will enable employees to understand what is expected from them by their employers in terms of working safely and in a responsible manner that protects the environment. It will provide them with an EHS Overview of several environmental, health and safety principles to ensure they work safely protecting not only themselves but also their colleagues and the environment. This will be achieved through the use of practical examples, simple exercises, games & videos, discussion & Q&A time with the trainer.
By the end of Module 1: Introduction to EHS, employees will understand their EHS responsibilities in line with legislative requirements, understand the EHS fundamental principles and the functions of the Occupational Health & Safety Authority and the Workers Health & Safety Representative.

For Whom
|
This training is intended for any employee, not in a managerial or supervisory level, from the public or private sectors, including manufacturing and service industries.
For better understanding, the Workers EHS Certificate course is aimed at employed persons.
Students wishing to attend the course, but do not have any employment history, may find it slightly more challenging; however the training outcomes will still be achieved.

Course Aims and Objectives
|
The objective of this course is to provide employees, working in any field, with the basis of safety to ensure that they work in a safe manner in line with legislative requirements & EHS management systems on a daily basis. |
