Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:
· Explain what is meant by the term “health and safety at work” and give examples
· Explain how health can be affected by the work environment
· Recognise common safety issues
· State how risks arising from the workplace and work equipment can be controlled
· Understand the principles of risk assessment
· Understand the health and safety issues related to: manual handling,
hazardous substances,
ergonomics and workstation design,
working at heights,
transport and vehicles, and
noise and vibration.
NB. On completion of this course, candidates wishing to be awarded the Certificate from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health must complete a multiple choice test. |
