WRITING A H&S POLICY

Course Title	Writing a H&S Policy
Course Content	This course examines the purpose of a health and safety policy within an overall management system, and explores ways in which these policies can be developed into meaningful, useful documents. Course content includes: ·           Management systems and the role of policy. ·           Making the policy meaningful. ·           Management commitment. ·           Sections of the policy; statement, organisation, arrangements. ·           Developing content; the policy as a control document. ·           Communicating the policy. ·           Induction sessions.
Course Objective	Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to: ·           Understand the role of a health and safety policy within an overall management system. ·           Identify the component parts of an effective h&s policy ·           Identify appropriate content for each part of the policy. ·           Develop methods to ensure that staff understand, and work in accordance with the policy.
Target Audience	Business people and managers attempting to write a h&s policy.  Anyone who may be called upon to contribute to a h&s policy.  Anyone who has to appraise the quality of h&s policies.  H&S committee members.
