Brief:

These four seminars on Talent Management will enable participants to consider specific factors like organizational culture and structure for acceptance or otherwise for the implementation of talent management in their organisation.  Participants will also be able to explore the meaning of talent management and how knowledge about their organisations is gathered and managed in a way that is effective for the organisation’s development.

Seminar 1 : April 9, 2008

Organisational culture issues in talent management

Ø       The culture and practice of recruiting, retaining and promoting staff

Ø       Alignment or otherwise with equal opportunities and a structured transparent approach

Ø       How will talent management be perceived in the organisation, threat or opportunity?

Ø       Diversity strategies.

Ø       How to effectively relate talent management to the existing culture and potential change

 

Seminar 2 :  May 6, 2008

Organisational structures that are needed to develop and implement talent management

Ø       Definition of talent management

Ø       Why do we need talent management

Ø       Key H.R. issues in talent management

Ø       Organisational strategies and structures that need to be in place i.e. job families, fast tracking, exclusive or inclusive policies, capturing contribution of people leaving the organisation

Ø       Practical session about levels of organisational maturity that will enable talent management

 

Seminar 3: June 3, 2008

The importance of knowledge management in an effective H.R. strategy

Ø       History and progress of knowledge management

Ø       Data is not knowledge

Ø       How to build data into knowledge and wisdom

Ø       Value of knowledge management

Ø       Knowledge management roles and organisational structure

Ø       Relationship with other management initiatives

 

Seminar 4: June 12, 2008

Talent Management in practice

Ø       What do organisations already currently  have in place to support talent management ie corporate governance

Ø       Differing practices according to the size and complexity of organisations ie SME’s family businesses

Ø       How to involve all the staff

Ø       The danger of false expectations

Ø       Critical success factors
