Delegates from the FHRD who attended the networking visit to Enemalta |
A networking visit was organised by the FHRD to the power station at Delimara on Wednesday, April 25. A presentation, delivered by Ing. Ray Azzopardi, who is responsible for Enemalta's Training Centre, described the initial days of operation, the present targets and Enemalta's vision.
There was a strong emphasis on the training programmes that are currently taking place, evidence of a clear focus of the support given to employees to deal with the changes Enemalta is encountering.
The discussion also evolved into further clarification of the whole training cycle, from preparation to evaluation - quite a task when considering the challenges and number of employees participating.
The next part of the visit was the tour of the plant. The detailed explanation genuinely showed the enthusiasm with which the employees work to assure the continuous supply of power to maintain our domestic, industrial and supporting requirements.
It turned out to be an extremely positive experience as one hardly gives electrical power its deserved importance, despite being the principal force that drives modern society forward.
One tends to flip a switch, turn a key, or pick up a phone and expect the power to be there without fail - believe it or not, there are hundreds of people and equipment supporting this luxury!
Thanks to all the team at Delimara power station.
Enemalta held an open week for students last week, which comes to an end today, with the Delimara power station open to the public. |
