Joe Dimech: "This year's CIPD conference offered a mix of learning, networking, exhibitors and consultants, providing the opportunity to leading HR practitioners to congregate in a specialised environment and learn from each other.
"An impressive line-up of world class speakers presented their views on the predominant leadership challenges on the global HR agenda. The overall conference experience was most energising and highly inspirational. A wealth of knowledge has been gained, which I am sure will go a long way in consolidating the input HR practitioners have to offer to add value to the businesses they represent."
Annika Formosa: "This was my first experience as CIPD and I found the programme of events very relevant to the situation in my current place of work. Attending an international conference like the CIPD gave me the chance to delve deeply into current ways of working and enhances the tools necessary to come up with concrete ways of challenging and improving them.
"As such, the sessions do not provide answers, since things are different for different organisations.
"They do, however, put you in a frame of mind to challenge what you are currently doing, listen to what worked and what did not work in other companies similar to yours, and construct your own version of how things should be done.
"Besides the knowledge gained from the excellent sessions, the CIPD gave me a great opportunity to network with people from all over the world and to share knowledge, experiences and best practice, which will be extremely valuable for the organisation I work for."
Maria Pia Chircop: "My attendance at the CIPD conference and exhibition in Harrogate last month came at a time when I needed most to be revitalised and refreshed with new HR philosophies.
"Indeed, each seminar had so much to digest and absorb that I do not know where to start. However, I am still struck by what Charles Handy said about being authentic.
"Producing a photo of two old and bony facial profiles of a man and a woman, he said that maturing in life means that we look more at the inside of a person. This means that we appreciate more the values a person embraces than anything else.
"With this same philosophy of capitalising on values, I was then intrigued by Danah Zohar's seminar, which inspired me to write today's commentary."
Monica Gaglione: "The 2005 CIPD conference at Harrogate was truly an unmissable event! The content was energising, informative and professional.
"As a participant, I came back bursting with ideas and, most importantly, with the confidence to carry them out.
"Networking with fellow Maltese participants, as well as those from other countries, proved inspiring and useful."
