FHRD annual conference and exhibition
Maria Pia Chircop
The world of work presents leaders with huge challenges, which could help them to make the difference. We find, for example, that some companies are making the difference between winning and losing business through their environmental policies as customers are increasingly demanding environmental and CSR credentials. Such companies are striving to make the world a better, healthier place to live in.
Bill Gates has made the difference in the IT world with the revolution he introduced in the PC business, with which we live every day not only at work but also in the comfort of our homes.
This distinguishes one company from another and one individual from another. However, how much would the success of these companies and individuals be justifiable if they do not value their people through whom they reach their most ambitious inspirations?
By valuing their people at work they add value to their business as credibility and reputation travel fast.
Who would like to do business with a company with a high turnover due to poor leadership, arrogance, violation of human rights and harassment?
The FHRD's annual conference and exhibition, with the theme "Make a difference that makes the difference! Value your people at work and add value to your business", is an event CEOs, general managers, directors, HR practitioners and all business leaders should not miss.
It is time to reflect on the way we are doing things within our organisations and to find better ways to remain competitive through our people.
Three keynote speakers have been invited to share their expertise in business and people management.
Dr Hans Böhm was secretary general of the European Association for Personnel Management (EAPM) between 1993 and 1995, and between June 2003 and last June. He was the association's president from 1995 to 1997. From 1998 to 2003 he was vice-president of the EAPM and board member of the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations.
Ray Taylor has 20 years' international experience in people and business development in a range of industry sectors, particularly in retail, leisure and professional services. He has been studying and working in complementary health, as a teacher and practitioner, for 15 years.
Patrick Psaila is a registered psychologist, training and HR consultant, a licensed NLP master practitioner. He works with various large and medium-sized organisations involved in manufacturing, education, health, tourism, banking, and other services as a trainer, consultant and psychologist. He specialises in personal and professional development programmes for managers and leaders in organisations, with a particular interest in emotional intelligence.
An exhibition of HR services and products offered by Commercial Services Bureau, Dakar Software Systems, Atlas Insurance PCC Ltd, Reed Personnel Services Malta, Computime, Megabyte, the Employment and Training Corporation, NCPE, the Institute of Health and Safety and the FHRD will compliment the conference.
